Contact Sheet 2
This is my final outdoor shoot. I had to provide an additional shoot to my indoor shoot to employ a range of various pictures to make my magazine more appealing and interesting. The setting of the outdoor pictures were at the skate park and in the woods, it was raining which reinforces the characterisation of 'Cecile Rose' the way she is created to portray in the magazine. Also, I took a few indoor pictures in my bedroom where Megan (the model) is made to look like she is writing her songs in her diary. This creates a personal connection with the reader and adds a exclusivity to the article, as her bedroom is in her home as if the audience is looking into her private life, behind-the-scenes.

Contact Sheet
This is the contact sheet for my final photoshoot. The majority of my images are close-ups and are in portrait rather than landscape as my main focus was to achieve a picture for my front cover. Both models, Megan and Karishma were to represent their genres to the best of their capability. For Karishma, a microphone, electric guitar and explicit hand gestures were used to apply to the genre rock. Whereas, Megan had unusual make-up, unique poses and looks to establish her genre electra-pop and to accompany her interesting lyrics and controversy that is supposedly following her in the media.
Editor's Note
Editor’s
Note
Cecile Rose is officially the nicest most
interesting singer in electra pop. Not only has she brightened up our days in
the office with her utterly brilliant new album, Beating Hearts, but Cecile has
very kindly gave up some of her downtime to recently record an exclusive four –
track acoustic session for us to give away free to you with this month’s issue.
In true rock’n roll spirit, she’s done a damn fine job, so don’t miss out on
your chance to hear it! Take the card
that’s attached to the back of your copy of the mag and read the text
underneath to find out how to download the free tracks. As if that wasn’t
enough, she also invited us to her British penthouse – something she has never
done before – for our interview (see page 42). She really is the singer that
keeps on giving despite the rumours that has been said about her! Enjoy the
tracks and the issue, and let me know what you think!

Choosing The 'Right' Image For My Front Cover
I am still deciding on my image for my front cover, I have finalised these three images with the exception of one that is with a different filter. I want my front cover image to be unique and not the standard posey image you see on every magazine on the shelves. It has to represent the artist, thus the overall point for my magazine is to reveal the true identity of the artist and what never-to-be-told gossip they are witholding. I am leaning towards the fourth image where 'Megan' the model is wearing a white dress, which connotes purity and innoncence - it puts forward the message that she has nothing to hide. I think the image looks raw but at the same time established, due to the make-up and the quality of the image. There are no shadows masking her face which indicates that she is ready to disclose all information with the consumers.

Article Draft
Cecile Rose
Primadonna Cecile Rose has alas dropped her bubble-gum music to the charts! The new kid on the
block has shocked all with her distinguished electra-pop music and her
effortlessly exquisite, unique style. The seventeen year old edgy, London diva
reveals her current pandemonium as simply “typical” she goes on to say to us “why
would I be surprised? Anyone who doesn’t appreciate my music is merely bonkers.”
That’s not all; Poppy discloses all her latest antics and the crazy scandal
that got her to where she is today. From nudity to drugs, is she brutally
honest or attention seeking? We’ll let you be the judge.
Only surfaced
recently to the eye of the public and Poppy has already had a whirlwind of controversial
events lunging towards her. The English starlet with a French background grew
up on the busy streets of London, in an expensive five storey flat overlooking
Hyde Park. This may come across as shocking to some, as her provocative
behaviour would not be expected from someone immensely posh. On this subject
she laughs hysterically, “I’m just having fun! People need to chill and smoke a
pipe!! Geeeeez.” Hmm, not sure if some people would agree to that Poppy. It was not all
glory days for the wild singer, she exposes her life as travesty, thus she was
merely invisible to her parents due to their heavy work schedules. She shares, “if
it wasn’t for music, I don’t know how I would have coped.” This glimpse of her reality
explains a lot about the issues surrounding her.
Who
knew the iconic songs ‘Star Dazed, Heart Of Metal and Bubblegum Bitch’ were
written on a bedroom floor by a wishful, aspiring star who was sometimes
high…sharing her thoughts and feelings onto an ragged notebook that was
constantly hidden in her pillowcase. “It was my diary” Poppy admits, “whenever
I was overwhelmed by a particular feeling I scribbled down anything that came
to mind, it didn’t matter if it didn’t make sense and it didn’t matter what
state I was in as long as if it was written down I would feel happy.” She
didn’t need a crew of people working on a song days on end to make a mega hit,
this lyrical genius accomplished it all on her own.
Her music soon got discovered by her ex-boyfriend ‘Scott’ who was 28 years old at the time and she was 16, “I showed him my music when I knew our relationship was getting serious” she confesses “he loved my songs and he begged me to let him play at his work which was a local radio station.” After much hesitation Poppy finally agreed to his pleading.

And that's when the superstar was born.

These images portray how I want my magazine to be represented to the audience, hence it will reveal what type of magazine it is at first glance. In this case, I have provided images of high quality. The couture does not look cheap, this will make my magazine look expensive and successful that it can retain these established props and costumes.
I wanted the costumes to be unique and original but in a sophisticated sense. It has to be different from other magazines with their stereotypical representations of artists, e.g. a rapper has to have a snapback hat with a gold chain around their neck. However, I do want the artists on my magazine to sustain some matters that would differentiate them from other genres but the difference that my magazine would have to a typical music magazine is that my props and costumes would fully uncover the artist to who they really are on their personality mixed with their genre of music rather than just basing their 'look' on the genre. This would allow the readers to see there is more to what meets the eye of the artist which would interest them in reading the magazine, thus they know they would be reading something exclusive and they would be gaining the full exposure of the artists.
Some of the props provided - CD, headphones, tape, a radio and a mic, are all related to music which is crucial as the audience should be reminded that 'Dynamic' is a music magazine- it's not all about gossip and fashion.

Colour
My colour scheme would depend on the colours contributed in the
main image provided; I would identify the colours in the image and see what
other colours would coordinate well with it.
In my colour schemes, the colour I have
consistently used is black which is a monochrome, gender neutral colour which
associates with power, formality and mystery. This is important as my magazine
needs to appeal to both females and males aged 13-35. Therefore, the colour
black would be in my magazines considerably.
I matched the first colour scheme with
image 1 to create a mysterious sense with the dark colours. This highlights that
there's more to the story than meets the eye of the artist 'Carrie Underwood'.
The magazine would entail a full exposure of her, meeting the readers’ needs.
Also, the dark colours would make the magazine look sophisticated and elegant which would provide the illusion that my magazine is successful and established to the consumer.
The second colour scheme with image 2
consists of the colours black, red, blue and yellow. The artist, Leighton
Meester, is American thus the colours are linking the image and the artist
together allowing an American theme. Also, most of her songs are patriotic and
country. This would attract a large mass of an American audience; this is
beneficial as magazines are most successful in America.
The third colour scheme with the third
image provides colours of royalty - gold, black, purple and white. This
reinforces the idea of Kanye West’s high status in the music industry and demands
the consumers to notice the magazine.

Masthead Designs
All of the above are my masthead designs. The fonts I have applied are from 'dafont.com', I thought this site was useful as it contains a variety of different fonts to choose from. In particular, I was looking for a font that would support my multi-genre magazine. I wanted it to have an original aspect that would make it separate from all the other magazines. However, at the same time I wanted it to be basic - I didn't want it to be complicated as my magazine is multi-genre which means the target audience would apply to a large majority (females/males 13-35) compared to other magazines. It has to be simple so it would have a high appeal to all types of people as the music is varied and based on the charts.
Based on this, I have come to the conclusion to choose the first font (BebasNeue) or the last font (Arual).

Masthead Name Ideas
I chose these names as they all relate to my multi-genre music magazine and it would be effective in terms of appealing to my target audience. I wanted to choose names that are different from the ordinairy, I didn't want it to be basic but to have an original sense, thus I want my magazine to be different from the others already out there in the market. I came up with all these names to provide me with an idea of what I could choose from. In the end, I have settled on the name 'Dynamic'. I think it is effective because it is a musical term meaning how loud or quite the sound is. Also, it would appeal to my target audience who is females/males 13-35. I needed the name to have a a large appeal, it couldn't be biased as my target audience is large.
