Magazine Final Draft

Contact Sheet

This is the contact sheet for my final photoshoot. The majority of my images are close-ups and are in portrait rather than landscape as my main focus was to achieve a picture for my front cover. Both models, Megan and Karishma were to represent their genres to the best of their capability. For Karishma, a microphone, electric guitar and explicit hand gestures were used to apply to the genre rock. Whereas, Megan had unusual make-up, unique poses and looks to establish her genre electra-pop and to accompany her interesting lyrics and controversy that is supposedly following her in the media.

Editor’s Note

Cecile Rose is officially the nicest most interesting singer in electra pop. Not only has she brightened up our days in the office with her utterly brilliant new album, Beating Hearts, but Cecile has very kindly gave up some of her downtime to recently record an exclusive four – track acoustic session for us to give away free to you with this month’s issue. In true rock’n roll spirit, she’s done a damn fine job, so don’t miss out on your chance to hear it!  Take the card that’s attached to the back of your copy of the mag and read the text underneath to find out how to download the free tracks. As if that wasn’t enough, she also invited us to her British penthouse – something she has never done before – for our interview (see page 42). She really is the singer that keeps on giving despite the rumours that has been said about her! Enjoy the tracks and the issue, and let me know what you think!

Production Diary #10

I've mainly been working on the layout for my magazine and choosing the correct images for the pages. I have made a folder named 'FINAL PHOTOS' in my documents, where the images I have identified as suitable for my magazine are held. It's still a work in progress as I need to edit them. It's hard to choose the right image as I have numerous pictures that fits the purpose for my magazine. Therefore, to make my decision for the final photos easier, I have started editing some of the images on photoshop. Some may be the same image but with different filters or the shadow or brightness for that particular image is different, thus I can expand my options and see which one would fit better for my magazine. I insert the images I think are best for my magazine onto my layout and compare them with each other until I know which one looks better.

Other matters I have been doing, are making little adjustments to my layout such as changing the title font on my contents page which is now 'moon flower bold' rather than 'basic noodle titling' from Dafont.com. I have also started contributing cover lines on my front cover and inserting the barcode I customized myself on Dafont.com.

There is still a lot of work to do, I am planning to complete all of my work in the next few weeks.

Choosing The 'Right' Image For My Front Cover

I am still deciding on my image for my front cover, I have finalised these three images with the exception of one that is with a different filter. I want my front cover image to be unique and not the standard posey image you see on every magazine on the shelves. It has to represent the artist, thus the overall point for my magazine is to reveal the true identity of the artist and what never-to-be-told gossip they are witholding. I am leaning towards the fourth image where 'Megan' the model is  wearing a white dress, which connotes purity and innoncence - it puts forward the message that she has nothing to hide. I think the image looks raw but at the same time established, due to the make-up and the quality of the image. There are no shadows masking her face which indicates that she is ready to disclose all information with the consumers.
